We know it’s easy to forget something while packing, so here’s a list of essentials and recommendations for your hunting stay with us:

Upland Bird Hunting Essentials

• Shotgun – Bring your preferred firearm. Rental shotguns are also available upon request.

• Shotgun Shells – Gauge appropriate for your firearm.

• Hunter-Orange Vest – Required for visibility and safety.

• Hunting Footwear – Waterproof boots with strong ankle support are essential. Expect varied terrain.

• Lodge Footwear – Please bring alternate shoes for use inside the lodge. We ask that all hunting boots remain in the Trophy Room.

• Protective Eyewear – Safety glasses for shooting.

• Hearing Protection – Ear plugs or muffs recommended.

• Waterproof/Windproof Jacket – Conditions may shift quickly in the valley.

• Rain Gear – Especially important for spring or fall hunts.

• Warm Socks – Bring extra pairs.

• Upland Brush Pants or Chaps – For navigating thick brush and tall grasses.

• Gloves – Shooting and/or hunting gloves recommended.

• Headwear – Bring hats suitable for both warm and cold weather conditions.

Around the Ranch & Lodge

• Casual Clothing – Comfortable attire for lounging or dining at the lodge.

• Toiletries – Toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, and any personal items.

• Camera or Phone – You’ll want to capture the stunning scenery and your successful hunt. Don’t forget your charger!

Weather at Royal Creek Ranches

The climate in Rush Valley can vary greatly depending on the season. Expect temperatures anywhere from 30°F to 85°F, with sun, rain, or even snow possible in a single day. Layered clothing is your best strategy for staying comfortable all day long.
